Abstract: 

This study recognizes the spatial and locational characteristics of Iranian performance art in the traditional Persian paintings (miniature) in the pre-modern Islamic era. In the history of Iranian performance art, there are limited documents to recognize the characteristics of space and place. However, Iranian culture has many potentials to preserve performance arts. The most important way to reach these potentials is dramaturgy. In Iranian tradition, the principles and main elements of any cultural fields that are subject to restraint could be preserved in other areas. Accordingly, traditional Persian paintings were selected as the sources which possibly contain some features of the Iranian performance arts. Herein, the efforts of painters to create a composition from the elements of performance art in a picture are dramaturgy. Therefore, Persian paintings contain valuable information to analyze the Iranian performance art. Moreover, these paintings have been traditionally drawn to illustrate the Iranian literary, mystical and scientific books. One of these famous painters is Behzā d, who had a chance to deal with theoretical aspects of various subjects such as theater. Therefore, there is a possibility that the theoretical aspects of performance art have been considered in his paintings. It is in contrast with the opinion that Iranian performance art has been preserved by non-educational persons who did not know the theoretical aspects of theater. These paintings could be also resources of the Iranian urban mindscape to recognize places for setting up a traditional theater. A mindscape is a general picture of a place and mental factors including cultural, historical, and memorial events. Herein, the main objectives are to find the relationship between the paintings' subject matter and types of Iranian dramaturgical subjects as well as the features of stage and space to illustrate these subjects. To this aim, the selected paintings have dramatic themes and suitable locations for performance art. Results have revealed that most subject matters of these paintings contain Iranian dramaturgical subjects such as Siavash Pass on Fire. Besides, some paintings contain more information about the performance art locations and mindscapes than associated books. For example, more details of a real location for dramaturgical events, like Behistun as a traditional mindscape, have been painted. The paintings illustrate various stages like proscenium, round, thrust, makeshift, traverse stages, which have been performed permanently or temporarily in coffeehouses, private houses and historical venues such as ancient caravanserais and cultural landscapes. Moreover, to a better illustration of a site for theater set up or a gathering place for performance art, different compositions of symbols, colors, forms, and figures have been used. Different types of Iranian performance arts in these paintings are Ta'zieh (passion play), traditional puppetry, Ru-Howzi (social theater) Naqqā li (narration) Siah-Bazi (comical acts on politics) Saye-Bazi (Shadow plays), Pardeh-Khaani (screen-based storytelling). Even though these paintings do not illustrate a real performance art, they reflect a PERFORMATIVE manner and dramaturgical process in Iranian culture. It should be noted that this research is performed based on historical research methodology and reflection approach in the sociology of art.

Abstract: 

Rhetoric is the science which evaluates the eloquence of discourse. Through the rules of this science, any discourse is evaluated as to three aspects of Ma’ani (rhetorical figures), Bayan (utterance) and Badi’ (figures of speech). Ma’ani is one of the main branches of rhetoric which studies different aspects of a sentence such as its secondary meanings and its relevance to the situation. Persian scholars of rhetoric have always paid attention to Arabic rhetorical books. Negligence of grammatical and rhetorical differences between Persian and Arabic has led to some mistakes regarding definitions, divisions and examples. The category Enshaye Gheire Talabi (declaratives in the form of PERFORMATIVE or a PERFORMATIVE with declarative interpretation) is one of the issues which has not been defined and delineated clearly in rhetorical books. Analyzing such a category in the field of Ma’ani, this study aims at explaining its position with regard to grammatical and semantic characteristics of various kinds of PERFORMATIVEs.

Abstract: 

The present paper is an attempt to study Randa Abdel-Fattah’ s novel, Ten Things I Hate about Me (2006) from Judith Butler's PERFORMATIVE perspective. The main question of the research is whether the diasporic subjectivity of the Muslim protagonist of the novel is innate, static, and finalized or rather PERFORMATIVEly constructed. It is argued that Jamilah, as a diasporic Muslim woman, is not a being with an essentialized identity; rather she is a becoming whose identity is constructed in diaspora. It is contended that Jamilah is a discursive subject, hailed by the dominant Lebanese, Australian, and Islamic discourses. Butler's attestation of the infelicity of some performances leaves space for the resignification and reappropriation of the discourses, which attempt to interpellate the subject. The study seeks to demonstrate that Jamilah as the diasporic doer, who is constituted as a result of the PERFORMATIVE linguistic, corporal, culinary, and artistic deeds, is not determined by any of the discourses she is immersed in, and thus becomes a hybridized liminal subject who negotiates the discourses of home and host cultures through evading the dualistic logic.

Abstract: 

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is one of the most successful techniques of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and is mostly in use for the treatment of infertility with male factors. In this method, before injecting sperm into the intracytoplasmic of the oocyte, cumulus cells around the oocyte must be stripped to facilitate the injection process. To achieve this, both enzymatic and mechanical methods are used in embryological laboratories for denudation, which has major deficiencies, including the possibility of damaging the oocyte prior to the injection process. In this research, a microfluidic-based device is introduced for the separation of cumulus cells around the oocyte with minimum manual operations. The results prove high efficiency, and non-destructive denudation of the oocyte with the reduced amount of culture medium leads to the low-cost preparation process of oocytes. The process can also be integrated with ICSI chips under development and will be reported shortly.

Abstract: 

The tale of Rostam and Esfandyar is one of the most fascinating stories in Shahnameh which has had wide reflection among the populace. Ever since its creation this tragedy has been very popular in different regions of Iran and has undergone changes and been distorted at times. The ancient region of Kouhmareh Sorkhi is one region where this tale is very popular since antiquity. Like most other narratives this tale is not remembered by the people of this locality and only is told by the eldest and the most renowned naqqal of this area, Ali Hossein Allinejad, the last of the naqqals and narrators of the region. The naqqali narrative of this tale in this area is an amalgam of epic, popular and mythological beliefs of the natives of the region. The studies made by the writer of this article on the present epic narratives in the area and specifically the recent narrative shows that narrators and naqqals have tried to make these narratives more acceptable among the community by incorporating mythological ethnic elements and beliefs among people and thus preserve them in memories. This inspection not only shows part of mythological beliefs of this community but also records narratives not previously studied nor recorded in references. Abstract: 

PERFORMATIVE Computational Architecture (PCA) is an intelligent approach to the DESIGN process based on performance criteria, which has generated considerable conceptual confusion among some students, DESIGNers, and researchers. Furthermore, this concept entails various factors depending on the DESIGN subject, necessitating examination, prioritization, and analysis. This study aims to conduct a review of PERFORMATIVE Computational Architecture based on evolutionary and swarm computation methods and elucidate its performance and architectural factors. The research method employed is a comprehensive quantitative-qualitative approach, analyzing content from the literature on the subject of PERFORMATIVE Computational Architecture. The statistical population of this research includes studies conducted from approximately 2002 to 2021, with purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques utilized. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive analysis and correlation and Shannon tests on the topics and factors examined. The findings indicate that research in the field of PERFORMATIVE Computational Architecture has been conducted on three main subjects: skin, form, and building layout. Among these, shading, window dimensions, window placement, and window-to-wall ratio emerge as the most significant factors in skin formation and facade DESIGN. The overall form, floor height, and the number of buildings are highlighted as key factors in form generation for building DESIGN, while spatial location, adjacency matrix, and grid matrix are identified as crucial factors in generating building layout DESIGN. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that PERFORMATIVE Computational Architecture, as a performance-based DESIGN approach, embodies three shared DESIGN concepts: generative DESIGN, algorithmic DESIGN, and parametric DESIGN, with a focus on performance evaluation and optimization. Additionally, form-finding factors exhibit diverse degrees of importance based on the triadic subjects, among which spatial location and adjacency matrix in building layout configuration, shading in skin formation, and overall building shape in form emerge as key form-finding factors.

Abstract: 

One of the issues of reliable performance in the power grid is the existence of electromechanical oscillations between interconnected generators. The number of generators participating in each electromechanical oscillation mode and the frequency oscillation depends on the structure and function of the power grid. In this paper, to improve the transient nature of the network and damping electromechanical fluctuations, a decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming has been used to DESIGN a stabilizing power system and a complementary static var compensator (SVC) controller. By applying a single line to ground fault in the network, the robustness of the DESIGNed control systems is demonstrated. Also, the simulation results of the method used in this paper are compared with controllers whose parameters are adjusted using the PSO algorithm. The simulation results show the superiority of the decentralized robust adaptive control method based on dynamic programming for the stabilizing DESIGN of the power system and the complementary SVC controller. The performance of the control method is tested using the IEEE 16-machine, 68-bus, 5-area is verified with time domain simulation.

Abstract: 

Non-cooperative intelligent control agents (ICAs) with dedicated cost functions, can lead the system to poor performance and in some cases, closed-loop instability. A robust solution to this challenge is to place the ICAs at the feedback Nash equilibrium point (FNEP) of the differential game between them. This paper introduces the DESIGNation of a robust decentralized infinite horizon LQR control system based on the FNEP for a linear time-invariant system. For this purpose, two control strategies are defined. The first one is a centralized infinite horizon LQR (CIHLQR) problem (i.e. a supervisory problem), and the second one is a decentralized control problem (i.e. an infinite horizon linear-quadratic differential game). Then, while examining the optimal solution of each of the above strategies on the performance of the other, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the equivalence of the two problems are presented. In the absence of the conditions, by using the least-squares error criterion, an approximated CIHLQR controller is presented. It is shown that the theorems could be extended from a two-agent control system to a multi-agent system. Finally, the results are evaluated using the simulation results of a Two-Area non-reheat power system.

Abstract: 

It is more important to improve and complete the wastewater process in order to reuse and return it to the production line. In this study, the hydrogen peroxide/ozone process (Peroxone) was investigated as a supplementary step in paper mill wastewater treatment to reduce the amount of chemical oxygen demand and remove E. coli. In this regard, using the Box-Behnken DESIGN method based on the response surface method to optimize and investigate the effect of three variables governing the ozonation process, including the amount of hydrogen peroxide consumed (ml), the amount of ozone input (mg/min) and ozonation time (min) were used. The results showed that the amount of ozone and hydrogen peroxide had the greatest effect for reducing COD (up to about 75%). Also, all three variables have played a significant role in increasing the efficiency of the Peroxone process and even completely eliminating E. coli. In determining the optimal conditions, the amount of ozone (146 mg/min), the amount of hydrogen peroxide (2ml) and the duration of ozonation (23 min), the lowest amount of residual COD (73 mg/L) and the highest efficiency (75% removal of E. coli) are predicted. The results showed that due to the interaction of ozone and hydrogen peroxide, the peroxone process performance was less efficient than the ozonation process alone.

Abstract: 

مقدمه: در مواردی که در یک مطالعه مداخله ای گرفتن گروه کنترل غیراخلاقی بوده و یا تعداد نمونه بسیار کم است (بیماری های نادر)، لازم است حداقل در مراحل اولیه، مطالعه ای تک نمونه ای انجام گیرد. جهت آنالیز این مطالعات از دو روش کلی گرافیکی مشاهده ای و استنتاجی آماری استفاده می شود که در این بین روش آماره C یک روش بسیار پیشرفته و با توان بالا محسوب می شود.مواد و روش ها: ابتدا برای روند داده ها در فاز پایه آماره C محاسبه و در مورد معناداری آماری روند مذکور تحلیل صورت می گیرد. اگر روند از نظر آماری معنادار نباشد آنوقت داده های مربوط به فاز پایه و مداخله با هم تجمیع شده و مجددا آماره C محاسبه و معناداری آماری آن مورد بررسی قرار گرفته و در صورت معنادار بودن دلیل بر اثربخشی مداخله مورد مطالعه می باشد. هم چنین با ذکر یک مثال واقعی (با شرایط عدم معناداری روند در فاز پایه) که بر اساس قسمتی از داده های مطالعه بررسی تاثیر استفاده از روش آی - تی - ام - تی (ITMT) بر روی مهارت های درون دستی دو کودک همی پلژی خفیف انجام شده است و هم چنین یک مثال فرضی (با شرایط معناداری روند در فاز پایه) روش مذکور مورد بحث قرار می گیرد.یافته ها: در فاز پایه روند تغییرات کلیه پارامترهای کیفیت و عملکرد مهارت های دستی (8 پارامتر) در مثال اول معنادار نبوده ولی روند تغییرات ترکیبی از اندازه های فاز پایه و فاز مداخله معنادار بوده است. (P<0.05; Z score> 1.68) و هم چنین در مثال دوم هم در فاز پایه روند تغییرات کلیه پارامترهای کیفیت و عملکرد مهارت های دستی (8 پارامتر) معنادار بوده و هم روند تغییرات ترکیبی از اندازه های فاز پایه و فاز مداخله معنادار بوده است (P<0.01; Z score>2.58).نتیجه گیری: مطالعه تک نمونه ای و آنالیز آن با استفاده از روش آماره C، علی رغم محدودیت های خاص خود، امکان ارزیابی اثر مداخلات را در شرایط خاص، فراهم می آورد.
